Kate’s visit to the USA

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Whilst Kate was in the USA she got a lovely welcome from one children’s book publisher – they put together a welcome board especially for her. Ed is very jealous, as for all the meetings he has been too he hasn’t had his name on a felt board for 20 years and Kate is straight on there! Below you can see the publishers pouring over the work, eagerly browsing the children’s book folios . It is great to see what Kate gets up to in her meetings and it just goes to show how important it is to keep your folio updated. So keep the work coming – we are constantly showing it off!

She also spotted Advocate artists work on a huge poster (see the photo below Kate).

Kate is in Boston!

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Our senior agent Kate is jet setting around the US this week, spending a few days in Boston before flying to Atlanta, meeting with lots of clients and showing off our illustrators fantastic work. The grand entrance of this publishing house was slightly daunting for Kate’s first meeting! Obviously it’s not called The Big Fat Publishing House, but we don’t want to give too much information away just in case our competitors are reading . . . !

One lot of clients were so happy with our level of service and loved our illustrators so much that they treated her to lunch . . . a new thing for Kate this year – fig pizza!

Frankfurt Book Fair 2011

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Advocate Art were in a prime location within Hall 8 this year at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2011. Two of Advocate’s agents Kate and Hannah represented the team and it looks like they had a great time setting up their stand, networking, and enjoying the fair! Around 7,400 exhibitors from 106 countries were present, and with over 3,200 events taking place, the fair attracted 283,000 visitors! As well as exhibitors and visitors from the book industry, other related industries were also present including film, games, and information and communications technology. This year the Book Fair saw a 1 percent rise in visitors from 2010.
All of us at Advocate illustration agency were thrilled to see two of our Advocate illustrators Paul Nicholls and Alida Massari featured as the ‘best in the world’ on the Usborne stand! So a big well done to them!

Advocate artists Sarah Alcock, Bill Bolton and Simon Abbott featured heavily on the Bonnier Group Stand for Five Mile press/Autumn and Piccolia.

Well done to everyone involved  and a great show all round!

Book Expo

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

Once again Book Expo America, the largest annual book trade fair in the United States took place at the Javits Center in New York City, with great success! Advocate’s exposure is growing from Strength to Strength with a noticeable increase in face to face appointments made prior to the show, as well as some quality pop on appointments by new and exciting potential clients.

Our stand is certainly not something that can be missed with its Bright red cafe style appearance, and of course my welcoming smile! And our captivating portfolios of artists keeping them glued to their seats. We entertained such clients as Disney, Nickelodeon, Capstone, Tigertales, Sterling, Houghton Mifflin, Harper Collins, Viz and National Geographic to name but a few of the significant book publishers that came along from the United States, and many from abroad too.

Well done Team Advocate, I would like to thank all of the artists for producing such captivating artwork its a delight to show, And a  thank you to the advocate team in the office who helped with the preparations! It was a great success and I look forward to the projects that come off the back of Book Expo and the new Relationships I have formed.
