Walking through the door at Advocate, I had a very limited knowledge of how a successful agency is run – or indeed how much organisation goes into maintaining that success. However, the friendly and professional staff have been extremely accommodating in guiding me through working in an agency environment. It is through their professionalism that I have gained an invaluable insight into the business aspect of art.
I feel very fortunate to have been given this fantastic opportunity to work with such a great group of people in a creative workplace. I am looking forward to taking the lessons I have learnt with me in the future as I progress with my artistic career.
Thank you once again to all at Advocate Art and I wish you all the best in the future!
Sebastian Rye.

Advocate Art illustration agency are excited to represent new artist Nicky Chubb. Nicky has passion for painting wildflowers, meadows and big skies using a vibrant colour palette. We can see Nicky’s artwork looking fantastic on products, posters and arty greeting cards. If you would like to know more about Nicky read her biography written below, and to see more of her work click here to visit the Advocate website.
“I originally trained as a designer, graduating from Central St Martin’s College of Art, London with a BA (hons) in Fashion in 1993.
After working in various areas of the fashion industry, including time as a trendspotter for an international vintage clothing company and as a designer-maker producing women’s wear and home furnishings, I had a break to be a full time mother. During this time I rediscovered the thrill of drawing and painting.
My paintings tend to be both expressive and joyful. I’m particularly inspired by the vivacious wildflowers and big skies I see in the countryside around my home. My work is also influenced by memories of the beautiful, larger than life flowers that my Grandad used to grow in his garden and my old textiles, both in the colours I choose and in my use of collage, stencilling and expressive mark making to add texture and depth.
My other artistic interest is in life drawing, experimenting with mixed media and collage to explore patterns of light and shade across the body. To enable this I run a weekly life drawing class for a lovely group of artists.
I was born in Durham in1969 and grew up in Manchester. I now live in Surrey with my husband, four children, two dogs and a cat. My favourite books at the moment are Jamrach’s Menagerie by Carol Birch, because it’s beautiful, and How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran which I have to read in private because it makes me laugh so much.”

Advocate Illustration agency are extremely proud to represent our fabulous new wildlife artist Kat Davies. Kat has always had a passion for nature and animals and we are so pleased that she has used her love for animals to create these realistic pastel illustrations. We can see Kat’s work looking great on greeting cards, posters and even as a children’s book illustrations. Watch this space! Check out her bio below:
“Kat Davies is a wildlife artist working exclusively in pastel and specialising in big cats, embracing an extraordinary connection with lions, tigers, leopards and snow leopards.
As a child, Kat lived in Gibraltar and her earliest memories are of sights, sounds and smells far more exotic than those of her native country in England. Because of its close proximity to Northern Africa, the influence of that beautiful continent and its flora and fauna was inevitable.
It was only back in England, years later, that she knew art was her calling. Attracted by nature’s colour palette and an attention to fine detail, a realistic style seemed natural. Before long, a career in wildlife art was born, with a passion for conservation and love of animals at the heart of every painting.
Exhibitions include the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, Animal Art Adventure at Nantwich Museum, Marwell International Wildlife Art Society exhibition and several successful solo exhibitions, all raising funds for conservation causes. Kat is a Daler-Rowney featured artist and wildlife artist for DMC Creative World. www.katdavies.com.

“There is so much you can say with the simple application of color and value to a surface, and I am a firm believer that any good piece of art should have something to say. A story if you will.
Not neccesarily the kind with a beginning and an ending, but stories that can be told in the blink of an eye, and in the reflections and emotions it leaves.
I believe, that being a good illustrator means walking a narrow path between developing and growing your skills, in order to convey your desired message or story, but also to have a curious and playful mind, in order to have something worth saying.
Stray too far to either side, and you risk losing focus on your actual task at hand, which should be to create beautiful and meaningful art.
I could be wrong, but still, this is where I strive to be.

Lucy Boydell is an Artist represented by Advocate Art Illustration Agency who creates large-scale drawings of animals in charcoal, pen and ink and pastel. She also makes sculptures which she models in wax and casts in bronze.
Drawing is her passion, and she is constantly thrilled that using charcoal, just a burnt stick of wood, and a finely cut eraser can recreate the textures of fur, hide, scale and feather in such a satisfying way. Capturing the attitude and spirit of the individual animal is as much of a focus as describing the physical texture.
Lucy’s artistic influences come from a wide range of sources: the uplifting architecture of Cambridge, the town where she grew up, the works of Durer, Picasso, Frink and Degas, the flamboyancy, creativity and attitude of Adam Ant as well as Liberace, Versace, McQueen, and Cavelli; all things Italian.
Graduating with a BA Hons degree in fine art from Central St Martins in the 90s, she has worked for an interior designer making drawings for restaurants, in a foundry learning all aspects of the lost wax process, and exhibited in art fairs and galleries in London, Bath, Scotland, New York and The Hague before settling down to have her family.
Lucy now lives on the North Norfolk coast with her boys where interests outside art include time on the beach and in woods den-building with her boys, walking in the dunes, dressing up, homeopathy and herbs and cooking with friends.

Washington Green, famed recently for Bob Dylan prints, have also purchased over 40 original works by our very own Bill Bate.
Bill’s stunning semi-nude compositions of underwater swimmers have been some of the best selling works in our Art Gallery for a number of years.
Richard Yates Gallery manager comments “Bill is an artist fuelled by the feel of colour and the use of dramatic light in his atmospheric work. Paint is given a life of its own, exacting an emotional response to the body in movement, as light dapples the twist of the human form through water. An artist of rare insight.”
Jonathan Moore & Ian Weatherby-Blythe confirmed the signing at a recent launch of new works at the Advocate Gallery attended by Bill, his entourage, many of his patrons and many of the good folk of Wimbledon Village.
Advocate Art have much experience launching artists into the Publishing world, past successes includes Gavinder Nazeran and Rob Hefferan.
