Have a look at this lovely changing picture book sample we received, illustrated by Simon Mendez and published by Sterling Children’s Books. This beautiful novelty book tells the story of a tradtional children’s Christmas and is accompanied by a selection of enchanting paintings that link each scene to the next with the pull of a tab. Watch the night skies transform as santa flies over, this lovely interactive picture book takes us on an exciting journey through the most wonderful time of the year!

At Advocate art we have been very busy creating these great new Christmas mood boards incorporating all the elements we think will be on trend for Christmas 2013. Below each one we have written a description of the colours, tones and imagery we are looking for – this is a perfect brief for all you greeting card designers out there are and we can’t wait to see all your fantastic illustrations in response to them! Chocolate Christmas
Warm tones of burnt gold, bronze and deep red inspire this look. Metallic finishes are mixed with natural wood textures to give this trend a homely appeal.
Snowflake
Light, dreamy and soft – this look is defined by the unusual mixture of mint green and muted teal. This is paired with iridescent finishes, and delicate snowflake, star and woodland motifs.
Midnight Velvet
Sumptuous, rich and elegant – this look draws inspiration from the glamour of the 1920′s. The colour palette is limited to deep purples, indigos and black, with metallic highlights.

We are very lucky at Advocate to have received lots of lovely christmas pressies and cards from our illustrators and clients! We have received cookies, chocolates, retro sweets, popcorn and cakes, we won’t be going hungry that’s for sure . . . . thank you!

At Advocate we thought it would be really nice to make our own rather quirky christmas decorations (any excuse for us creative folk to get crafting!). So our lovely intern Steph took the reigns and designed us some gorgeous Banksy inspired silhouettes which we then sprayed onto the windows with white snow! If you look closely you can see the changes she made from the original Bansky we have in the Advocate gallery and the one on the windows. We think they look great!

Whilst all of us are sitting at our desks in the Advocate illustration office, our agent Hannah is having an extremely busy week meeting with around 20 clients in New York and New York state! She flew out last Saturday and is doing a full 7 days, flying back this Saturday. She has been meeting with clients and showing off all of our illustrators‘ and artists‘ fabulous work to book publishers and greeting card companies. She managed to time her trip with the adverse snowy weather they have had, but it sounds like it hasn’t delayed her trip and she is having a very productive time!

New Advocate artist Martina Hogan has featured in Greeting’s Today Magazine with her super bright and quirky greeting cards. Her designs have been sold internationally onto greeting cards, home wares and paper products so all of us at Advocate are thrilled to welcome her on board. Martina describes her work as “full of smiles and happy thoughts – it’s great to know that there are people out there looking at my designs and thinking that they’re really cute and fun”.
