Sarah Palmer is a greetings card illustrator represented by Advocate art – illustration agency. Sarah operates under the name pinkshoesart, so called as she wore pink boots at university and the name stuck!
Sarah trained as a graphic designer but used her skills in the field of editorial journalism for many years, before returning to illustration as a hobby.
She teaches design to sixth-form students and is constantly on the look out for new artists for them to explore, so her influences, as a result are always fluid, but at the minute Sarah really likes Aubrey Beardsley and the hand-drawn type of Chris Piascik. Sarahh describes her own work as highly decorative – She really enjoys looking at Medieval manuscripts with their detailed designs and imaginative flattened perspective.
Sarah usually draws up her designs freehand in her sketchbook before importing them into Photoshop and Illustrator to finish them off – liking experimenting with bright, bold colours in Illustrator. Sarah also loves drawing her two cats Barney and Homer and is currently working on an illustrated story based around a feline character.
