Advocate Art would like to introduce to you one of our new artists, Alfie Vernon. His eye catching repeat patterns would be perfect for greetings cards and other print products. Read on to learn more about Alfie or to see more of his work visit our website by clicking here.
Alfie was born in Notting Hill in 1987 in the Summer of Love, now residing in sunny Brighton, in a regency flat overlooking the sea.
His work desk is placed so he can see the sailing boats and clouds rolling by.
As a child Alfie rebelled against equations and Algebra, and concentrated on the fine arts of painting and electric guitars .
His drawings , inspired by impressionists, surrealists and pop artists ended up on cards, stationery posters and tee shirts, in the shops and on passers –by… if they weren’t quick enough.
Alfie sits at his desk as the waves crash in, listening to post rock , Art Punk, Electro and Indie Folk, while his cat ‘Chairman Meow’ follows the seagulls every move.
Alfie’s obsession with music has led to collaborations with some major bands in the UK and USA…with trips to NYC and LA meeting merch teams , studying graphic trends and print techniques, which is a serious obsession.

Advocate Art would like to introduce one of our new artists, Regina Silva. We think her bright designs would be perfect for greetings cards. See more of Regina’s work by visiting her portfolio on our website or read on to learn more about the artist.
I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines, and have been drawing ever since I can remember. I used to get in trouble for drawing on the margins of my school books (my maths and Philippine history books, especially) and on the walls of our house before I moved on to paper, canvas, and eventually, the computer.
I graduated with a degree in Multimedia Arts in 2005 and went on to work for several years as a motion graphics designer for television before I realized I wanted to get into illustration. I enjoy drawing cute, fun, and whimsical animals, people, and objects. I see my style/work as a reflection of my personality– happy, bright, and not one to take life so seriously.
When not drawing or designing, I love travelling (I try to document my travels in a sketchbook), taking photos, dabbling in arts and crafts, and watching movies.

Advocate Art would like to introduce a new artist, Simon Myers. His older and realistic style is skillfully executed, we are sure his work will be very popular.
See more about his background by reading on or click here to visit our websiteand see more of Simons work.
Growing up in the Midlands, in a sleepy farming village where nothing much happened, I immersed myself in film, animation and American Comic Books. It inspired me to draw, that or be a Super Hero but I just don’t look good in tights.
I have detoured slightly, working for the majority of my career as a garment graphic designer for the high street fashion industry. (My successes include the Panda BMX t-shirt for Topman, the launch garment graphics for Baker Boy by Ted Baker at Debenhams and the Wendlock and Mandeville comic strips to be used on Adidas/London 2012 merchandise for the upcoming games.)
However I love to draw, motivation never an issue, my care-worn satchel containing pencils and pad never leaves my side. Even my doodles reflect the competing influences of comic book and fashion, though garnished with a heavy sprinkling of the aesthetic of the late sixties and early seventies.
To create my work I use a variety of techniques but am enjoying how painting digitally is less messy.

Advocate art illustration agency have recently signed fantastic painter Gordon Barker. Gordon’s busy paintings are full of life and capture the moment of the mood brilliantly. As well as being involved in a number of exhibitions, Gordon has work in private and corporate collections all over the world. He has also recently written a book which he is illustrating himself. We are thrilled to be representing him, his work will translate beautifully into greeting cards, posters, art for licensing and books. Below you can read all about Gordon and see some examples of his work.
I was born in Gibraltar in 1960. I moved around the world whilst my father was in the army until we settled in Northamptonshire when I was 12. I have recently moved to Torquay.
My love of painting started early and I was encouraged by my art teacher to go to art college but I chose to start work instead! I did however continue to paint, had a few exhibitions and even ventured to London to sell my work.
I am passionate about my creations and as soon as one is finished I already have an idea for my next, never losing my desire to create another work of art.
In late 1983 I sold my first painting to a recording company in Milton Keynes. This gave me the confidence to promote my work to a wider market. This was just the start. Over the next few years I sold over nine hundred originals to companies like MTV Europe, The Gap, AT&T and also many private collectors, many of these were commissions which have helped to develop my unique style of painting.
I have paintings in corporate and private collections in many countries in the world such as France, Germany, Switzerland, South Korea, Denmark, Japan, United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.
I have recently written a children’s book for which I have also painted the illustrations for each page.

At Advocate art we are delighted to be representing new children’s book illustrator Boaz Gabai. Boaz incorporates subtle colours and soft line work to create his colourful scenes. Below you can see some examples of his work and read a bit more about him. Click here to visit his portfolio on the Advocate art website.
Drawing is all I used to do as far as I can remember. It drove my school teachers crazy, but led me to a fantastic profession.
I was born and raised in Tel-Aviv, and studied animation & illustration at Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. Ever since, I have aimed to professionally illustrate characters, the environment, concept design and storyboarding – while working in fields of pure illustration such as children books, editorials illustrations and educational books etc’.
My main inspiration is reading. It can be a novel, historic texts, biology & zoology books. Even phone-books can inspire me, I guess.
A mere look at street corners can inspire me visually. I find myself taking pictures of routine everyday moments for reference – I see stories in them.
Listening and playing music is my therapy. Composing music is a dream for me.
Cooking is another dream, but I better keep on illustrating.

Here at Advocate Art we are excited to introduce our new illustrator Jessica Taunton. We think her vibrant artwork would be perfect for children’s books and we can’t wait to start showing her work to clients. Keep reading to learn more about Jessica and visit Advocate Arts website here to see more of her work.
I was born in Somerset in 1985. I lived there for 18 months and during this time became very well acquainted with the next-door neighbour’s garden gnomes. I went to primary school in Herefordshire where I lived on a small farm, then I moved to the seaside in Pembrokeshire when I was 12. I have lived in the countryside for most of my life and always feel inspired by sunshine and nature. My Mum is a calligrapher and sulptor, and my Dad a bookbinder so I have always been surrounded by creativity. I studied illustration with animation at Manchester Metropolitan University and graduated with a first in 2007. I absolutely loved the course and it was there that I decided to pursue a creative career. I work digitally to combine my drawings with photos, texture and patterns and would describe my work as being bright, colourful and fun. I like taking photos, running, cooking, surfing and toasting marshmallow. I am a big reggae fan and my favourite book is Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts.

At Advocate art we are very excited to be representing new illustrator Suz Hughes. Suz illustrates for both greeting cards and children’s illustration and we think her fresh style will be a great addition to Advocate. Read on to find out more about Suz and click here to visit her portfolio on the Advocate art website.
I think I have always aspired to work within the creative industries and feel I have been a creative spirit all of my life. At Christmas and birthdays I was often just as excited, if not more excited, about the wrapping paper and boxes than the presents themselves; I would sit for hours and make things. I became obsessed with art and design to the point where in school I would offer to do my friends art homework (looking back, I probably should have charged!).
After school and college I went on to De Montfort University, Leicester and was awarded a BA Hons in Decorative Artefacts. These were the best years of my life; I just loved being in the studio environment and would be there all hours, with or without a hangover (often with!). It was here I developed my individual style that I would describe as fresh, fun and childlike. I love to make people smile.
A few years after graduating I decided I needed to develop further and was awarded an MA in Children’s Illustration from Glyndwr University, Wrexham and have never looked back.
I’m inspired by what goes on around me, usually the minor idiosyncrasies in life that pass most people by. I am also inspired by my own childhood; many of my designs, characters and stories are based on games my sister and I would play.

I grew up on Canvey Island in Essex. After graduating with a BA 1st Hon in Fine Art from Portsmouth in 1984, during which long summer I hitchhiked all around Italy, my career ambitions to be an Illustrator didn’t quite take off as I’d hoped. Looking back I see it was more akin to the development of modern rocketry with numerous failed launches off the drawing pad while working as a stone restorer\fixer-mason and squatting with lentil-splitting zeros around the Brixton area of London until the early 90′s. However, I continued my doodling productions with self-published comics, gig posters, flyers etc and of course my portfolio which was, after completing a course at St Martins, orientated toward childrens book publishers.
My break came from IPC Magazines with their TV publication: ‘Look In!’ (for kids) for which I illustrated a weekly two-page comic. Contrastingly I also illustrated for ESCAPE (one of the 1st lads mags) and humorous fiction features for 3 adult monthlys. Oh and there was Moody DJ (comic feature for SELECT, a music monthy.) This was a busy period honing a confident yet flexible drawing style. However, the industry by this time was undergoing economic rationalisation with new high tech printers – remember Wapping?! The final eviction notice also came in timely fashion and that spurred me on to go get a tourist visa bound for Sydney where eventually I landed 4 or 5 editorial pieces from the Sydney Morning Herald and Penthouse. That however lasted only 6 months due to ozy visa restrictions. So by way of serendipity I then found myself bartering my skills as a designer of all sorts in Bali, amongst the American expat community there. Probably would still be there today if I hadn’t flipped my motorbike and scraped off a portion of my leg’s epidermis down the Rumjungle road.
I returned around 1997 to settle in Brighton where I joined the Brighton Illustrators Group and got my first PC at the age of 35, ever since I’ve been mesmerized by it’s capabilities allowing me to pursue a wider spectrum of graphic design styles which in turn has gained me satisfied clients. I still, on the odd occasion, miss the big blue surf but anyway love my woman, our allotment, micro beers, cycling, the ranting poetry of John Cooper-Clark, diy, and when I’m not occupied on bread and butter projects I create art-poster-prints as signed limited editions and exhibit these framed at 2 local venues. Favourite TV prog at the moment is The Keiser Report on Russia Today, oh and anything quantum from the Hadron Collider – “Kirk out”.

Advocate art are very excited to be representing new children’s book illustrator Alfredo Belli. Below you can read all about Alfredo and see a few examples of his work; to see more click here to visit his online portfolio on the Advocate art website.
I was born in Naples, called the city of the sun…when it doesn’t rain. Now I live in Rome, not so far away. When I was a kid I spent a lot of time drawing everything, especially animals and comics. After school, I studied Architecture for a couple of years, then graphic design and finally illustration. I am a member of the Italian Illustrators Society. I’ve illustrated a lot of books on behalf of different publishers, spanning age ranges from preschool through to teen. I also contribute to various advertising agencies as an illustrator and visualizer. I always listen to music when I work, it helps me to find the right mood. I love cinema too and if I was not an illustrator maybe I would be working in that field.

Take a look at one of Advocate art’s newest artists Erica Sturla who creates all her work using polymer clay. She moulds characters, animals and objects to make these humorous scenes. We love her style and know her illustrations will make fab greeting cards as well art for licensing. Read on to find out more about her, and to see more of Erica’s work click here to visit her portfolio on the Advocate website.
I was born in 1966 in Gillingham, Kent. My childhood was punctuated with several moves around the country and daunting first days at new schools. I have now settled with my family beside the sea in Worthing, Sussex.
My early years were spent drawing, painting, making picture books, watching Camberwick Green and and fashioning mice out of felt. Later, I studied Fashion Illustration and Journalism at Epsom school of Art & Design and worked for many years as a graphic designer.
For me, the vital ingredients in an illustration or painting are colour, energy and a sense of fun. I’ve always admired the work of Quentin Blake and Beryl Cook as they seem to achieve all three things effortlessly!
In 2000, I discovered polymer clay and have been playing with this amazing medium ever since. I now devote most of my time to creating polymer clay figures in original paintings for galleries around the UK and designing greetings cards. My “One Lump or Two?” range was launched in January 2011 and, excitingly, was a finalist in the Henries awards in the same year.
