The Talent Colin Howard Biography

Colin Howard is an English illustrator specialising in illustration for older children and realistic style.

Colin was born in Harleston a small market town on the Norfolk and Surrey border in the Waveney Valley. He grew up in Harleston with the countryside on his doorstep this enthused his love for wildlife which is a great inspiration to him. He now lives in Norwich with his wife Michelle and their two ginger cats.

Colin has been always drawing from a young age, when he was turned down from Norwich school of art after he left school he did not give up instead he carried on sending his illustrations to various magazines and publishers. Colin is inspired by fantasy and science fiction film and art. He also finds great inspiration from his love of nature which recently took him and his wife Michelle to South Africa doing voluntary work walking and hunting with cheetahs.

Colin creates most of his illustrations on Photoshop on his PC. He works with the pencil tool building layers of colour up. When working more traditionally Colin works in Acrylics using highly detailed fine brushes on A3 size paper to large canvases. As well as painting by hand and digitally he also works with an Airbrush as well. Colin has created over 30 BBC Dr who VHS covers in the 90’s as well as numerous books, magazines and comics.

When Colin is not illustrating he loves being in the countryside as well doing anything that involves science fiction and films. He also enjoys watching the Formula one.
